Rado has launched its striking new Centrix collection, redefining aesthetics with a softer, more sensual design that adds breathtaking beauty to a sensory journey across the desert. The collection features dials of varying sizes that present a more expressive appearance, with the watch glass extending all the way to the edge of the case for an immersive visual experience.
To promote the latest Centrix colletion and enhance the brand's impact and interactivity on social platforms, Byten21 has utilized augmented reality (AR) technology. Using the front camera, users can virtually try on the makeup look of a Centrix advertisement model. Through the back camera, the essence of Centrix is displayed, presenting two realistic 3D Rado Centrix watches alongside an animated dreamy desert sand, infusing the brand with a touch of mystical allure.

In the era of digital discovery, consumers are accustomed to filtering information across multiple channels. To stand out in this noisy environment, more is required. Merely providing engaging content is no longer enough; augmented reality (AR) marketing offers brands a unique opportunity to dominate on social media through an end-to-end consumer journey.
Rado's influence on Instagram lays the foundation for successful social AR marketing, and the habitual social interactions of users on digital platforms make the transition to AR social interactions smoother. Unlike most brand filters, RADO aims to integrate AR experiences that combine virtual makeup via the front camera with showcasing watches via the back camera. This requires the team to skillfully balance the technical execution to ensure smooth switching and synergy between the two, providing users with a comprehensive visual experience.
When developing this captivating AR experience, Byten21 overcame multiple technical challenges, including limitations inherent in the software itself. Particularly within Meta Spark, each asset was subject to a size limit of 4MB (updated to 6MB as of January 30, 2024). To ensure a high-quality AR experience, the Byten21 team continuously experimented, modified, and produced, effectively compressing and integrating all components to ensure the experience was seamless and uncompromised in quality.
Project Results
Byten21 recreated the stunning Centrix ad model makeup, allowing users to experience the essence of Centrix through the front camera. The rear camera displayed two 3D Rado Centrix watches along with animated sand, adding a touch of magic. This allowed Rado to innovate in the social sphere with augmented reality technology, such as virtual makeup and 3D virtual products, sharing experiences across social platforms, providing users with novel experiences and attracting more participation.
